Visit a Display Home from Your Couch

23 February 2024

Do you remember COVID lockdowns where everything went ‘virtual’ all of a sudden? While we’re no longer stuck indoors and can get out and about freely once again, there are many benefits to making the most of the remnants of the COVID era, like virtual display home tours! For a little while, virtual tours were the only way homebuyers could check out display homes due to lockdowns, but now that those restrictions are no longer in place there are still so many great reasons to take a virtual display home from the comfort of your sofa before checking out the display homes you love in person!

The Different Types of Virtual Display Home Tours

Before discussing why homebuyers will find virtual display home tours so helpful on their home building journey, let’s take a quick look at the different types of virtual tours home builders offer.

Video virtual tours – The more basic of the two virtual display home tour options, video tours are typically a ‘walk through’ of the display home by the builder in which they guide viewers through the home. These are often filmed on a smartphone and can provide a substandard viewing experience.

3D virtual tours – The more advanced of the two, with a 3D virtual tour viewers can walk through the property at their own pace with 360-degree views that enable them to inspect every area of the home. These are filmed with state-of-the-art 3D capture technology for a quality viewing experience.

While video virtual tours provide a very top-level overview of the home with minimal interaction, 3D virtual tours, on the other hand, provide an immersive viewing experience that enables viewers to get an in-depth feel for a home and a better understanding of whether they’d like to visit in person.

To provide an immersive viewing experience that showcases the design and build quality of our homes, Hallmark Homes offers 3D virtual tours for all our display homes. By showcasing our display homes with state-of-the-art 3D capture technology, we enable homebuyers to get a real feel for our homes and to also feel confident about building with us – why not take a tour now

Why Virtual Tour a Display Home?

So, now that you have the choice of visiting display homes in person again, why should you take a virtual display home tour from the comfort of your sofa (or your desk at work)? There are many benefits to taking a virtual display home, starting with saving time – after all, do you know just how many display homes are open across Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast this weekend?

Save time (and money)

To get a strong idea of home builders, home designs and the other important factors in your home building journey, you should always visit display homes in person. However, with virtual tours, you can save time (and money) by narrowing down the display homes you plan to visit in person. With many home builders (like Hallmark Homes) displaying homes from the Gold Coast all the way to the Sunshine Coast, virtual tours are a great way to shortlist the display homes you’re most interested in visiting. And free up your weekends for other things.

See a wider range of designs

Another benefit to virtual display home tours is the opportunity to see a wider range of home designs. You most likely have a firm idea of how many bedrooms you may want and whether you want a single storey or a double storey home, but have you given much thought to floor plans and layouts, interior and exterior spaces or how the house will be positioned on your block? The more home designs you explore, the better you’ll understand what you’re really looking for in your new home. Virtual tours are a great way to explore a wider range of home designs and get that understanding.

Get an immersive experience

As 3D virtual display home tours leverage state-of-the-art 3D capture technology, they provide a highly realistic experience that enables you to explore the property as if you were there in person. This technology is amazing, as it allows you to get a real feel for the home’s layout as you navigate through each room and area, which also gives you a realistic sense of the scale of the home and how it looks in person. Immersive viewing experiences enable you to make better informed choices about the display homes you visit.

Planning a display home visit

The first step to planning your display home visit is to take a 3D virtual tour and narrow down the display homes that you plan to visit. Once you’ve decided which homes you’ll tour in person:

  • Prepare questions to ask the consultant — There’s so much to consider when building a home, including upgrades and facades, so prepare a list of questions that you’d like to ask.
  • Don’t rush! View at your own pace — We recommend allowing at least 20 minutes to view the display home and another 10 minutes to chat with the consultant, so 30 minutes in total.
  • Make a day of it — Chances are the display homes you’re interested in aren’t local, so try to visit several displays located nearby one another in the same visit and make a fun day of it!
  • Don’t forget the kids — If you’re visiting display homes with young ones, make sure they’re well-catered for so that you can focus your attention on the display homes you’re visiting.
